Jocelyn’s Journey is an annual fundraising event aimed at funding research to find a cure for Rett Syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder. Jocelyn’s Journey funds are donated to the Rett Syndrome Research Trust a 501(c)(3) charity who has funded recent break throughs in gene therapy which has reversed the effects of the disorder.
On February 9th, 2010, 21 month old Jocelyn Jones was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a neurological disorder that strikes at random and affects almost exclusively girls. Rett Syndrome can be described as symptoms of autism, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and anxiety... all in one little girl
In 2007, Dr. Bird dramatically reversed symptoms in a Rett mouse model using gene therapy. A cure is in Jocelyn's future, as scientists have continuously described, "Rett is positioned to be the first reversible neurological disorder". The scientists at the Rett Syndrome Research Trust are pioneering new treatments that may one day cure thousands of little girls all over the world.
Since 2011 Jocelyn's Journey has raised over $333,000 for the Rett Syndrome Research Trust. This years Gala will be held at the Town of Apple Valley Conference Center on October 1st, 2016 at 5:00 PM.
